Cempedak orange smoothie

What is cempedak? And how does cempedak taste?

A tree species similar to the jackfruit is called cempedak. However, when people use the term "cempedak," they frequently refer to the fruit which has an odd, spiky appearance.

Malaysia, Indonesia, Southern Thailand, and Papua New Guinea are countries that are particularly known for this cempedak fruit. While jackfruit is enormous and oval in shape, cempedak is tubular and roughly the size of a rugby ball that has been compressed. Jackfruit and cempedak are quite similar to each other. When these fruits are fully mature, their flesh has similar hues that range from light yellow to slightly orange. However, cempedak flesh is more fibrous, fragrant, and slightly sweeter than jackfruit. Cempedak has a light pineapple flavour with a tinge of banana. But what distinguishes a ripe cempedak from a jackfruit is its wonderful honey nectar flavour.

In Bahasa Melayu, jackfruit is referred as as nangka in Malaysia. What is the English name for cempedak? Unless you want to give it, a scientific name and call it "Artocarpus integer," there is no English name for this fruit. I still have the memory of my hubby telling me about his oral English SPM external exam experience. The examiner enquired about the fruit's name. He admitted to the examiner that he was unaware of the fruit's English name. But the Cempedak was called by the locals. This is the name of the fruit.

WHAT ADVANTAGES DO SMOOTHIES MADE WITH CEMPEDAK HAVE?

Cempedak has a potent aroma and great nutritional value. Its seeds, peel, leaves, and bark are also healthy, in addition to the pulp. Ascorbic acid, enzymes, bioflavonoids, minerals, and vitamins are present in reasonable amounts. It helps maintain healthy eyes, which also helps in hydrating the intestines and acting as laxatives, boosts immunity, lowers blood cholesterol, and other benefits. Cempedak is also referred to as a fruit that is rich with treasures.

WHAT IS A GOOD MATCH FOR CEMPEDAK SMOOTHIE?

Because cempedak fruit has a sweet, intense flavour, it was combined with citrus orange juice and yogurt to create a tropical flavour. Orange juice can bring a tropical citrus punch to the smoothie.

IS IT NECESSARY TO DILUTE THE CEMPEDAK SMOOTHIE WITH WATER?

Smoothies typically contain fibre since the pulp is kept in them and gives them a much thicker consistency. As you add more ingredients, the consistency becomes thicker. If you want to make the smoothies thinner, you can use oranges instead of milk or water. Almost the entire orange is liquid. They are not like most fruits, which when combined into a smoothie contribute fibre and substance. When you turn on the blender, the oranges will instantly liquefy and change to a watery consistency.  Know that adding an orange to a smoothie on the fly is more like adding water than anything else. The orange flavour is at least preferable to water.

HOW TO EAT CEMPEDAK?

If you want to eat the bite-sized nuggets, just cut open the fruit. Even though some folks prefer their fruit battered and deep-fried into fritters. Additionally, the seeds can be boiled and eaten like tiny potatoes. I am going to make a smoothie with cempedak fruit today.  Combine jackfruit and orange in this tropical smoothie for a taste of paradise.

INGREDIENTS

500G cempedak flesh

2 cups fresh-squeezed orange juice, add more according to individual preference

½ cup yogurt

METHODS

1. Mix it all in a blender with the other ingredients until it is smooth. If you would like it to be sweeter, you can add some honey.

2. Pour into two big glasses or jars and serve.

I hope this tropical smoothie brightens your mood as much as it brightened mine.

Ondeh-Ondeh in 3 flavour (椰丝球)

Today made a popular dessert in Malaysia, “Ondeh Ondeh”, a type of Nyonya recipe. It is also called “Buah Melaka” because it looks like the fruit of the Malacca tree. The procedure of making is easy. The flavoured glutinous rice balls have grated fresh coconut on the outside and melting Gula Melaka, or palm sugar, inside. The white, milky coconut shreds and little balls of various colours appear fresh and natural. and has a charming appearance. The glutinous rice balls, soft glutinous and chewy are determined by the amount of water and cooking time. The softer the rice balls, the more water and more time it boiled. We like our coconut shreds to be moist and crisp, the melted Gula Melaka to be rich and flavorful, and the texture to be somewhat mushy and sticky. It seems like the nostalgic flavour of my childhood is returning. In addition to the traditional pandan flavour, I have included instructions for making it with sweet potatoes and pumpkin. Of all the flavours of "ondeh...

Pandan Coconut Moss Jelly Mooncake

Half a year has flown by in the blink of an eye, and it's almost Mid-Autumn Festival. It is fall in October this year. I've tried quite a few of jelly mooncakes last year. So, this year I am going to share some of jelly mooncakes that I love. Making jelly mooncakes isn't difficult, and I'm always eagerly anticipating the finished product, because there are always so many surprises when I cut into it. I got the inspiration from an Indonesian dessert “lumut” pudding. Puding Lumut or “moss pudding is a type of jelly or jelly pudding originating from Indonesia, make with a mixture of agar-agar powder, eggs, coconut milk and sugar which is cooked until it forms a moss like mass. Today I am going to transform it into a mooncake.   Other than the beautiful moss from cooking and stirring the mixture. The white layer part that looks like shredded coconut which is actually made from the mixture of agar powder, fresh coconut water and coconut milk. Grate it after it is set...

Braised Pork Belly Char Siu on Stove

Grilling char Siu is time-consuming? Yes, indeed!! The marinating and cooking steps involved in grilling char Siu might take a lot of time.   In order to allow the flavors to seep into the meat, the traditional process involves marinating the pork for a few hours, often overnight.   Additionally, grilling might take some time, particularly if you want that distinctive char. And also create a crispy surface and smoky flavor. You might say can make char siu, or Chinese BBQ pork with oven baking, or air frying. Oven baking produces an excellent crust and a balance of juiciness. Air fryer is the quickest way to produce a crispy outside and a soft within, although it might not cook as uniformly as oven baking. Today I am sharing a super easy stove top version. You even get a lovely sauce to go with it, and the results are just incredible. It lacks charred or roasted flavor of charcoal because it is cooked entirely on the hob.   Trust me, this method is definitely ...
